Megan Romano for Rockford School Board
Focused on our kids.
Committed to our schools.
STUDENTS FIRST
Every decision should start with what's best for students; academically, socially, and emotionally. Our schools should support all learners and create an environment where every child has the same opportunities to succeed.
TRANSPARENCY & COMMUNICATION
Families deserve clear, honest communication and meaningful opportunities to be heard. I believe in open dialogue, accessible information, and building trust through transparency.
THOUGHTFUL PLANNING & ACCOUNTABILITY
Our schools should be guided by thoughtful, well-informed decisions that prioritize long-term success. That means responsible planning, listening to the community, and focusing on what matters most for students.
Your donation helps me connect with families, share this message, and advocate for students across Rockford.
Together, we can keep the focus on what matters most, our kids.
Every contribution, no matter the size, makes a real impact.
My Commitment to Rockford Schools
"Our schools are strongest when every family feels heard, informed, and included."
I’m a parent of four students in Rockford Public Schools; a senior, a sophomore involved in theatre and marching band, and two in elementary school. I’m also the parent of a child with autism, which has given me a deeper understanding of how important it is for schools to provide strong support, clear communication, and resources that meet every student’s needs. Like many families in our community, our lives are deeply connected to our schools, and the decisions made there impact us every single day.
Over the past year, I’ve become more involved in our schools after experiencing situations that made me take a closer look at how decisions are made and communicated. That experience opened my eyes to the importance of transparency, clear communication, and thoughtful decision-making.
Since then, I’ve become more engaged in understanding how these decisions impact students and families. Through that involvement, I’ve seen firsthand how important it is for families to feel heard, informed, and included.
My professional background is in healthcare, where I spent 10 years working in neurology and neurosurgery. In that role, I worked closely with patients and families, helping them navigate complex decisions, communicate clearly, and advocate for their needs. That experience shaped how I approach problem-solving by listening first, asking the right questions, and focusing on what matters most.
In addition to my healthcare background, I’m a small business owner and commissioned notary, and I’ve been actively involved in our local community. I currently serve as President of my neighborhood HOA and as the Band Sponsorship Chair for the Rockford Marching Band, and I previously coached youth soccer through Rockford Community Services. These roles have given me hands-on experience working with budgets, coordinating efforts, and bringing people together to support our schools and community.
I’m running for the Rockford Board of Education because I believe our schools are strongest when decisions are made with transparency, guided by thoughtful planning, and centered on students. I’m committed to bringing a balanced, community-focused perspective to the board. One that prioritizes communication, accountability, and long-term success for our schools.
Above all, I’m a parent who cares deeply about this community and wants to help ensure our schools continue to support every student and every family.
